The Academic Thesis Programme is primarily intended to develop new Management and Hotel Management concepts and approaches through a Master’s and/or PhD thesis.

It is a unique and exclusive opportunity to work and develop new skills alongside Pestana Hotel Group professionals.




The candidate selection process takes into account several aspects relevant to the Pestana Hotel Group, namely:

  • Ability to adapt to the Group’s needs and constraints
  • Personality that includes a positive attitude, sense of responsibility, the ability to work in a team, innovativeness and willingness to learn




Supervision and integration of the student into their new workplace, both in the area where they will carry out their project and throughout the organisation. This stage will help them adapt and learn about the business.

Project development. The student will always be supervised by a Mentor. Follow-up meetings will be arranged between the participant, the Human Resources Department, the tutor in charge of the area where the participant is working and the respective Mentor. These meetings are intended to ensure the continuous supervision of the student and the alignment of objectives for the success of the project at the end of the programme.

Presentation of the final conclusions that the student has reached to their mentor and the department where the student is working once the project has come to an end.
