Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel and Spa is a busy 4-star hotel featuring 218 stylish bedrooms, 8 meeting rooms, a restaurant, bar, gym, and a spa. Located next to the iconic Battersea Power Station and opposite Battersea Park, we are proud to be part of the Pestana Hotel Group, the largest Portuguese hotel chain with over 100 hotels worldwide.
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Human Resources Business Partner to lead and manage all HR operations within our vibrant 4-star hotel, ensuring compliance with UK employment law, brand standards, and best practices. This role is critical to maintaining high staff morale, low turnover, and a strong, service-focused culture through effective training, communication, and leadership.
Your Responsibilities:
- Ensure HR operations and documentation are accurate, fully compliant with UK legislation, and audit-ready at all times.
- Handle all HR administration, including maintaining personnel files and safeguarding confidential information with absolute discretion.
- Oversee the recruitment process from start to finish, including advertising roles, interviewing, onboarding, and supporting departmental induction and probation.
- Lead all training and development efforts by compiling an annual training calendar, coordinating statutory and brand training, and promoting continuous staff growth.
- Drive performance management and succession planning, including appraisals, coaching, grievance procedures, and disciplinary actions - always securing prior approval where needed and staying within budget.
- Support and coach line managers in dealing with employee relations, conflict resolution, and policy application.
- Develop a motivated and engaged workforce through: Empowerment and coaching, Effective delegation, Clear communication, Recognition programmes.
- Promote staff welfare and ensure health & safety standards are met; keep notice boards and communications relevant and updated.
- Manage staff initiatives including Employee of the Month, birthday celebrations, Christmas parties and other team events.
- Facilitate a structured exit interview process, analysing trends to improve retention and inform recruitment strategy.
About You:
- Proven experience as a HR Business Partner or senior HR generalist in the hospitality sector.
- CIPD qualified (Level 5 minimum preferred).
- Knowledge of UK employment law, health & safety, and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust at all levels.
- Confident in advising management while also approachable and supportive of team members.
- High attention to detail, strong organisation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
